I want to see what type of spark plugs were being used when your coil ignition pack went south. Please let me know the year of car, 4 or 6 cyl, mileage when replaced, and what type of spark plugs were in the engine when the coil ign. pack went south.

Thanks.

One of the coil packs went bad on my car at 65,000 and one of the plugs would not fire. The spark plugs were the originals. I had the coil pack and all six plugs replaced by my Ford dealer. The coil pack was coveredy my extended warranty.

Three so far. (I think I may have fried the last two by running bad plugs or wires.)

Another CEGer (Zetecracing) had this problem. His car would die and it turned out it was his coil pack.

Any other ways to tell? Like say if the car were still operational but exhibiting strange symptoms?

I had replaced the coil pack back in August of 1998. At 63,323 miles. Cyclinders #2 and #6 were out of range. I had factory spark plus/wires. I have a 1995 Ford Contour V6 Automatic. When there was a problem the car was idleing very high and it felt very jumpy (like it was missing). I had Ford diagnose that problem.

Ford replaced the pack on Tour 2 about 4 years ago while it was under warranty. It had the factory wires and plugs then. Mine is still running strong with Magnacores and Bosch +4s :p
