I did some looking around in the audio section of the message board, but couldn't find a straight answer.

I intend on purchasing a Pioneer 3500 HU, and was just curious as to whether or not:

Does the wiring harness just connect directly to the HU and internal connections, plug and play so to speak, or do I need to splice any wires?

Any help would be appreciated

no, what u have to do is go buy a wiring harness for the year of ur car usually several differnt years have the same harness. get it at k-mart or wal-mart. audio stores sometimes charge way too much for the same thing dont go to circuit city they'll charge u like $17. then what u do is connect the color or each wire on the HU the same color of each wire on the harness. U can electrical tape, if u want or be professional about it and buy little plugs to put on the end i just tape it cus im cheap. then u plug the harness u bought into factory harness. FINISHED

now depending on where ur buying that 3500 you could probably buy a pioneer premier for the same price, which is what i would go with. lemme look and i'll give u some prices as well as the price u should be payin for the 3500

you shouldnt be paying anymore than $133 for that unit.
well thats before shipping so it'll be 150. If ur buying it from a local store your probably paying $200+. I would go w/a premier p750mp w/more features better sq and three 6.5 volt preouts for some good clean sound

thats just another option, but for all i know u might bettin the 3500 from the same place i would

man the only thing i dont like buying the web is they charge extra for warranty
i'm getting an alpine, with a 2 year warranty($35) and shipping (20). and its still about $30 cheaper than circuit city

man i hate my pioneer 3-ways they came in my car. they distort like a mofo and the highs and mids are muddier than off-road magazine
