Hi Everyone. I have been reading the threads in the archives trying to figure out what to do about my 96 Contour. It has a V6 3.0L. The water pump has been replaced today and it is still over heating. I was unaware of the "plastic" vs. "metal" issue until I read it here. They are planning to check the system tomorrow to see if the heads are warped. Man I hope not as I do not have the $$$$ to get that fixed. Anyway....does anyone have any ideas on why it would still be overheating? Please help me.

Sorry......sorry.....I hate to admit that I look like a typical chick!!!!!!My apologies for looking like an idiot. Anyway.....I am hoping that pieces of the water pump lodged in the hoses are what is causing it to still overheat.

car can still overheat on waterpump replace if air bubbles are in line. Your coolant level is okay?
Pieces of impeller can certianly clog up the works too.

Good luck!

Might be the thermostat. They are fairly reliable, but do go bad every now and then. After all, they are still based on technology probably 100 years old!

Make sure the cooling fans are working correctly, a thermister is a lot cheaper then tearing into the engine.

Thanks for everyones advise. I appreciate it. I am pleased to say that I got my baby back. She is purring again. The problem was a faulty thermostat. I had installed one on Saturday but it was defective. New thermostat....problem solved.
