I already had the resistor replaced, but instead of the heat not working, now it just doesn't blow... When I drive fast enough the force pushes the warm air out the vents a little but my options for the fan speed don't work. Suggestions?

what does a new blower motor cost anyway.... I have 172,000 miles on the tour and it's probably time for a new one anyway...

OK, well it was the fuse. BUT it will keep blowing them if I turn the dial to any AC function or to the defog/defrost. Damn - I thought it was going to be an easy fix - now what should I look for? A short in some wire!!! I don't think so.... I'm stuck :-(

Well I had a similar problem in my 1995 Ford Contour.
In Jan/2003 the fuse had blown and had actually melted.
They cleaned it up and was able to put a new fuse in and get it working.
It worked okay after that for the rest of the winter.
It blew again on the first cold day about 2 weeks ago( Sept/2003).
Now there is an open campaign for the Blower motor Switch and I went to Ford to see if I could get this replaced. They said the blower/heater switch is fine but something other than that caused the circuit board to fry.
Of course there is no recall on that part and they want 400 bucks to replace it. So I am still without heat as i cannot afford that right now. I think for now I will buy a heater that plugs into the lighter.
Can the fuse be bypassed?
Will I ever have heat again?

I had the exact same problem. It was the AC compressor clutch coil. The pulley bearing on the compressor had gone bad and ground into the windings of the clutch coil. To isolate this you can either unplug the wires from the compressor or remove the AC relay from the underhood fuse box. Have you noticed any noise under the hood? My AC finally locked up. the compressor still turned OK but the pulley bearing was shot. The car would not even turn over as it held the belt still. It ended up putting in a used compressor and it's been fine since.

TFI, I read your posts in the other thread... sounds like I also could have the same problem - although my contour is only for non snowy non salty days... I have a winter beater, so it is not extreeeeeemly important - let me know what happens with yours and I will keep you up to date - JOE

I had a fuse blowing prob...the door lock fuse. I thought it was a short b/c it happened right after I installed my diablo sport. I thought I had hit a wire or something...it was intermittent and then i decided to try and replace the door lock actuator...I haven't have a prob since.
