Hello Capital CEGers! I'm probably going to be going up to Herndon, VA this weekend to look at and and probably get a car, but I'd like to have a good mechanic check it out beforehand. As I'm not from the area, I thought maybe you guys could recommend someone who would give the car a good, honest once-over. Thanks a lot!

My friend bought an Escort GT from somebody in Herndon a few years ago. He made an appointment for a pre-purchase inspection at a shop on Elden Street down there. The place was accross the street from Anitas Mexican Rest. I went with him and if I remember correctly they charged him like 60 and did a thorough inspection. They found a bunch of minor things wrong with it. The guy that was selling the car didn't know anything about cars and when he saw the list he flipped out because he thought the car was falling apart. We ended up barganing him down to like half his original asking price. I don't remember the name of the shop but I do remember it was a car dealership also.

Thanks nando! Does Paul Brothers Oldsmobile and Subaru sound right? They are on Elden and very near Anita's (looked it up at switchboard.com). Anyway, I've got the address for Anita's so I will be able to find it. Thanks again!

That's actually a couple blocks away from the one he's talking about. Of course I can't remember the name of it either. I'll try and do a drive by tomorrow if nobody comes up with the name of the place.

I know it's not Paul Brothers Oldsmobile and Subaru. That dealership is like 1/8 of a mile from the place I'm talking about. I'm sorry I don't remember the name. You might want to call Anitas and ask them if needed. I would recommend you make an appointment. Shops in that area get rather busy on weekends with people getting their cars serviced.

Okay, I checked it out on the way home tonight. The place right across the street from Anita's is Busch Foreign Cars. If that doesn't sound right, a block down the street is Elden St. Service Center.
