I recently recieved a set of speakers to replace the stock ones that I blew in my tour. The set is round not oval, and the set for the front is about an inch smaller than the mounting hole.

Anyone know a good way to mount these on? I have an idea of making some metal strips that are in an X fashion to hold the speaker in the middle.

Heres a drawing of what im talking about:

Is this a good solution? I read something once in here about making wood mounts or something but that was a couple of years ago. Any suggestions?

Ohh before you go say get a new set heres the Background. I have no job since i decided to go to school full time. so im short on cash. We have a car that were getting rid of that had a nice stereo put in it. so im taking out the speakers because i have a better head unit, just crappy stock speakers that blew.

Thanks in advance

You most likely have a 5.25" round speaker by your description, so all you would need is an adapter like one of the following from scosche:

man i dunno about makin em yurself. i mean i know it can be done but i never mess with buildin boxes or baffles. i cant even draw a circle more less cut one
i do know that socshe has them online for about $9 per set
but i think they only make ones that fit 5.25" speakers.
do a search on speaker adapter or speaker size adapter
or socshe or however u spell it

I dont know if the fronts are 5.25 , I think their smaller. The backs are like 6. They almost fit in the front, but im gonna put them in the back. Maybe I'll just drill a couple of holes in the door and put some metal bars across.

Unfortunately the picture i wanted to post didnt come through. oh well. I've got a lot of free time tomorrow. i'll see what I can do.

Ok i think i found out what size they are. I found a set that looks just like them and is the same brand. The fronts are 4 inches. the backs are larger. Here is a page from circuitcity.com that shows what these speakers look like.

Sorry, I linked to the wrong one, here is the adapter for Contours:

It should fit the larger speakers you have. For your smaller ones you could cut out a template with plastic or wood from the Scosche adapter and just cut a smaller circle out.
