The guy at the local tire shop told me that even if a snow tire is studdable, once the tire has been driven on, you can't stud them anymore. Does anyone know if there is truth to this or is he just trying to sell me new tires?

TIA,
Pete

'fraid he's telling the truth.

When a studdable snow tire has been driven on without the studs in place, the little holes for the studs can become filled or clogged making it difficult if not impossible to get the studs in.
