Ok, this is hard to explain. My 98 Contour SVT kind of jolts when I hit the gas, and can be felt more when accelerating harder. Its like the car is misfiring (lets up and then starts accelerating hard all in a slit second. Also, when totally letting up on the gas, the car jolts as the rpms drop, very violently. Feels like your going over bumps. I read posts on bucking and "think" this is what I'm experiencing. I found two possible solutions. One is spark plugs and another is fuel pump. Tomarrow I'm going out to check the plugs. I hear autolite double platinums are the best for the 2.5L? If its not that, whats an estimate on how much a fuel pump will cost. Also how hard is it to do? Lastly, are there any other possibilities I should look into before going to the fuel pump? Thanks everyone.

If you change plugs change the coil too. Mine ran like crap, taking off was like a cylinder was out, very choppy. Highway was bucking, speeding up & slowing down. Idle sounded like a quite tractor.

New plugs & coil & wires & throttle body cleaning = runs fine.

before spending the money on a new coil go get a spark tester and also look at night without any light under your hood to see any blue sparks groundin out on the motor also u might try a new fuel filter before the pump
