Not trying to be a posting whore, but thought a single post for this issue might get a quicker read than my svt autobiography over my dealership visit the over the past month.

Question:

They replaced my engine with a long block. One valve cover is silver one is black. I already complained about that to no avail..... Typical. Least they changed the engine. My question is where is the part number physically located on the block. I would like to verify they put an SVT 2.5 long block in and not a normal 2.5L Duratec. Car info is in signature. Any info or insight would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Having different color valve covers is sorta normal. I've never asked why but that's how some look when they leave Cleveland Engine Plant.

Thanks for the info!

I am seriously considering getting rid of the car given what has happened to it. It worries me that a car dealer will really smell a rat with the valve covers being different, but then again.. How many non-Ford car dealers have seen an Contour SVT?

Maybe I'm too picky and expect too much, it just seems to me that it should be as it was, both black, or at the very least painted some color. The other valve cover is a missing the part number sticker on the end of the valve cover. All that is left of it is nasty sticky residue. The new engine makes the car look much older than it is given the appearance of the valve covers.

Now where can I find a part number on the block its self. I would think it would be casted somewhere on the block. Anyone know where it is located please... frown

Thanks for any help!
