Well, my car's been at the dealer since July 3 for the dash recall. Yesterday they said it would be ready today, today they called and said maybe tomorrow. They said that they are only doing the kits, no new dash covers, and that my dash is so badly warped that they were heating it to "try to melt it" back down so they could get the kit to go on(!) Assuming it's a mess (and I'm assuming that it will be) what should I do? The recall letter clearly says I had until August 31 to take the car in, and while I'm a bit late, I'm within the time period (it didn't start warping badly until the weather got hot recently). Some of you seem to be getting the full dash cover even now; how did you pull that off? My real question is process: should I accept the car back, and if it's not right, is there a Zone representative or someone at Ford to call (I don't think it's the dealer's fault, at least not yet--they seem to think this could be a problem repair). Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I contacted Ford customer service they took care of my problem. I had mine replaced in Feb. Some people have posted claiming that they are Ford tech's and saying Ford has changed the policy on replacement. I do not know if that is true, but it may be. I know that when I talked to Ford they told me it was the DEALERS call on the type of fix to be used. But they would try to help me. So we had a 3 way conference call with myself, Ford customer service and the dealer. Every thing went fine as soon as the dealer found out I was on the line with the rep as well as them they DID NOT want to even talk about the "Ford says we cant replace the dash" comment. The dealer told the rep and myself that there was NO PROBLEM that the new dash would be installed. They even asked the rep and myself to hold on the line while they ordered the dash so that the rep as well as myself knew action was being taken. Give customer service a call and tell them what you just told us about how they are repairing your dash. You really do'nt have anything to loose but stand to gain everything.
