It seems as though the dummy light for the water pump comes on in the morning (when its damp and or cool out). If keep the car on it will turn off after a minute or two. but if I rev the engine and turn the car off it goes out also. I checked the coolant resevour for pastic pieces from the impeller. Nothing but coolant and water. Any clues??

My new water pump rides shotgun but people want to charge me 150 to replace. I looked at the instructions in the forum but seems like a pain without pictures for us idiots.

That's not really a water pump light. That is the coolant level light, and it goes off when the sensor in the resevoir detects the level to be too low. In our cars the sensor is a little over zealous. If you fill the coolant level to be about a half-inch over the max line it should take care of the problem.

This is also detailed in the FAQs:

Yeah, if your water pump was bad you'd have the car overheating and no heat coming out of vents. Bad news!

However if your light is going on then it is indeed just a simple matter of filling about 1.0 to 1.5 inches above the full line.

About the water pump. It is very to replace but if your's is okay then no worries
