I have 4 new Michelin X1's, new tie-rods and an alignment just done on my car. I just drove from Calgary to Vancouver with 3 people, lots of luggage and the A/C turned on just about all the way out. The car runs very cool and smooth(I have the throttle hang fix in place) and I still got 8.1 litres per 100km(about 36 MPG) on the highway. AWESOME! Does anyone think that tires can make that much of a difference? Rob

Not me anyway, that is amazing mileage! I thought I was doing well to get 28 MPG on my last trip to Fla. (70+ with AC on most of the time)

Great mileage! What was your average speed and did you have a very light foot? Stephen

Hi,
I don't have a light foot but I wasn't exactly pushing really hard either. I was averaging about 110-120.

I have a good experience with Michlin X1s. I think tires can contribute for gas mileage by having less rolling resistance. Anyway my best gas mileage was about 29mpg (just what window sticker says)

Hi,
That was in km's. You are correct on the miles. Can someone tell me the correct way to calculate km per 100km? Is it total km's divided by amount of litres used and then that number divided into 100?

Wait a minute! :p You drove from Calgary to Vancouver and were able to get that good of MPG? Was that on the stretch that was mostly down hill? Seriously though, was that your average MPG or just one part of the trip that you were able to get that MPG? Stephen

I started on a full tank when I left Calgary and refilled in Salmon Arm and then I refilled when I got to Vancouver.
I will be keeping very close attention when I drive back on the weekend.

I've got Dunlap DA2's (I think) and get over 30 MPG on the highway (highest recorded was 32.02 MPG). In town is never less than 24 MPG, and it's as stop and go as you can get. Even when I drive it with a pretty heavy foot I still get 24 MPG. I love this car for that. I think synthetic motor oil and the intake contribute to the mileage, and I know upgraded plugs and wires on the ignition side help a bit also. I wonder what improvement the X1's will do for my car?
