Ditto...
and ditto...
And ditto some more. Does anyone really believe with the BILLIONS the manufacturers spend to gain 1/10 of a mpg in their CAFE that they wouldn't drop in a phenolic spacer (or any of the so called air swirlers including the Tornado, etc, etc) to help with that gas mileage and to add horsepower ? Surely they jest, it amazes me the stuff that we so called 'gearheads' will fall for, there aint no magic out there. More air in, more fuel in the air and getting that burnt gas/air out is the key. And the dry manifold post was very apt, a spacer may help a carb run cooler, and give it a little height to help the charge get into the cylinders, but it'll do spit on a port injected engine.
