Does anyone KNOW if unused oil will deteriorate overtime? I just found a 4L bottle that was purchased about 24 months ago. Still okay to use?

It's OK to use.

Oil and it's additives are very stable and store well. The biggest problem with oil that has been in storage for very long (much longer than yours) is that it will still be of whatever whatever level of certification that it was when it was blended. If your car should have API grade SL, don't use twenty year old oil that is only API SE (or whatever it was back then).

Yes, if you don't start up your car in 3 months

Oil will detoriate in your car as a result of heat up -
cool down cycles, so if you drive just 1 mile every day,
it's a good idea to change it every 3 months instead
of 3000 days

Your comment has nothing to do with the original question. He asked if oil still in the original container would break down just from storage. Actually putting the oil into an engine and using it is another matter.
