I am going to car boutique to get a K&N cleaner and I wanted to check some prices on exhaust systems. I was wondering the best setup for a 98 CSVT. I want it to be not very loud. I was looking for specific parts to make a complete exhaust like type of headers, pipes mufflers cats all the good stuff.

Also, I was wondering what is the best oil for this car, I am also getting ready to do an oil change.

One more question, for you stereo guys, do you need a cap to run a system in this car, or will the elec. system hold up fine. I had a BMW and I didn't need one, but I don't know for this car. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Chris

Take a look at a TruBendz exhaust. Thinkmoto has one with a Magnaflow (I think) muffler and it has a nice tone without being very loud. In fact, both he and I think its not loud enough

If you're willing to pay a little more (and you should) go with Mobil 1 or Amsoil synthetic oil. I personally buy Mobil 1, but both oils are very good. Edit: Also, don't forget about the oil filter. Avoid Fram at all costs. Brands to buy are the OEM Motorcraft/Purolator (same thing, different labels), Mobil 1, or K&N. A good search of the Duratec Performance/Maintenance forums will yield quite a bit of info on the various filters and their benefits.

Contours come with a 130 amp alternator, which is enough to handle a multi-thousand watt system (from what people have said in the Audio forum). However, even my modest 400W system can cause some flickering becuase the battery can't keep up with the quick hits. A cap is always a good idea in that situation. If you see any flickering of interior lights or headlights, invest is a decent cap. You can get a high-quality one here.

You might want to check out the Group Buy section. Even if there are no new deals, you can get some feedback on several systems. Definitely go Mobil 1. Sound questions, I'm not much help with--but check out the audio forum--lots of info there.

Thanks for all the input, I was thinking of going with msds headers and off road y pipe, but i didnt know where to go from there or if that was even a good idea.

As for the oil, the Mobil 1 is what I've been reading about and I will difinitely be going with that, also:

My friend workd at Bosch and he was gonna hook me up with those platinum plus spark plugs, would those be good for this car, I know they arent good for power adder cars, but I am hoping they will be fine for just a mild daily driver.

The stereo is goin in tomorrow, and I think I am gonna run a cap just to be safe or maybe an Optima battery, I will be running a 1200 watt amp for subs and maybe a secondary amp for mids and highs, so I think it is a good idea.

Thanks for all the help, and if anyone has a set of blue floormats for sale, as long as the drivers is in good condition, let me know.

I would not go with those plugs. The Duratec requires double-platinum plugs and anything less will wear out very quickly. I had a set of platinum plugs wear out in about four months. A few people have had success with NGK Iridiums or Bosch +4 plugs, but many others have had problems.

Autolite makes the OEM Motorcraft plugs for Ford, I don't know the Motorcraft part number, but the Autolite is APP764. Plugs are relatively cheap, so try what you want, but if they give you problems switch to the Autolites.

Not to keep this off topic but i hear the motorcraft plugs give most performance. Just my 2 cents.
