This is a really stupid ? but I went to pick up two fron SVT struts from a yard and when I got there they only had 1 strut. I was pissed considering I had called about them several times and they told me they had em. My question is since I have to get another strut, is there a difference between left and right struts? when I do a search on car-parts.com its coming up left and right. Thanks for any replys to this.

The brackets to hold the brake lines are different, but I would think either would work on either side, but don't quote me on that.
98.5 SVT
91 Escort GT (almost sold)
96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater

regardless where they come from, you always should replace them in sets. If they only have one, find a pair somewhere else. check the classifieds on this site. The only difference is the bracket as Kremit mentioned, but if you use struts from different sources, they will have different wear characteristics, and you'll have handling problems. Personally, I would never recommend installing used ones, especially with all the work involved with the front ones. But if you must, at least use a matched set.

Ditto. Don't buy one strut and a used one at that. If you buy one used and one new, they are going to have very different handling and ride characteristics.

didn't say there was, necessarily, just that I wouldn't do it. They do have to be a matched set, even if used. If you're buying a pair of shoes, you don't buy the right shoe from one guy and the left shoe from another guy. That's just plain stupid. Same thing with used struts. They need to come from one car.

I was trying to avoid the plug, but I do too. Only 34,000 miles on them.
