it really bits, I have a whole Thule set up that I had on my Tempo but I can't use it anymore...
I believe only Yakima makes a roof rack system for the Contour. I have one, and it works fine, fits well. It's noisy though, but roof racks usually are. The fairings can help, I hear, but I don't like how they look, so I never got one. A roof rack can be a bit expensive though.
There are many manufacturer's that make trunk mounts racks that work fine on our cars and are much more easily removable. Yakima, Thule, Allen racks are some that come to mind.
Yakima
Thule
Allen racks
I wish I were able to use my rack more, but I'm not riding much this year. Kids and all.
Good luck !

Drumnut, might you have some more photos of the since repositioned rack? And if you could, would you say a few words about wind noise you experience with the rack.

I have a yakima from my old car, just need to get new Q40 clips for it to work on the tour. Ill only have the rack on when im actually taking my bike to the trail (screw road biking ). I dont like putting a bike in the trunk because its a pain in the ass. That or ill just keep mooching off my friend with the jeep, who wants to ride alone!

I had a yakima rack on my 'tour. It went on and off real easy, so only had to deal with the wind noise when I needed them to carry something.

i had a yakima rack on my silver E1 for my mountain bike back when i had the CSVT....here are a couple pics i had on my HD. must not've seen this post back when it was originally made a couple years ago, or i would've posted them then.

i rarely took it off, though if i were going to be taking a long trip on the hwy or something i'd remove it - it did have an impact on the 70-100 acceleration time, and it did offer a bit of windnoise w/ the sunroof open...but all in all i thought the added utility was well worth any trade-offs.
i never could bring myself to put a rack on my RSX or my G35c, but my grand cherokee had one on it within a week of me getting it. i hate trunk racks and i really don't like hitch racks....and i *really* hate having to put a bike inside.

Wow, how ironic is that...my SVT is the same color AND that's the same bike I own too (Trek VRX300 although mine is a bit modded ). I've been searching for a rack for a while now too and so far eBay looks like the cheapest place to get one. Other than that this place has pretty good prices too: http://www.orsracksdirect.com/

I bought mine from Agees.com. Same prices as the link you posted, plus free shipping and free lock cores wherever needed.
