I'm sure any car with obd2 needs to be reset after being chipped.

Hey,
Where are you? Or your buddy?

I'm in Southeast PA, have a VAG-COM (dealer spec obd2 tool to read codes and re-program on vw's).

Which car does he have (year, model of GTi- 1.8t, vr6, etc).

I don't know how the Fords work (as far as chips) but some of the newer gti's need to have the chip soldered in place (ie. remove the ecu and either have it shipped out or soldered in).

The older ones (like my '98 VR6) only needs to be literally swapped in with the old one.

I've done it w/o pulling the neg term on the battery a number of times with no ill results (this is just a safety precaution tho so I'd follow it).

If you want to talk about it just email me (nate@nateengel.com).

Later,

Nater

I was just trying to help him out without the PAIN and angst of going through the vwvortex.com .
Honestly, while I hang there a bit (in the technical forums) the general forums are a battlefield that I stay away from.

i did post on vwvortex before here. thats how good ceg is. i feel i'll get my question answered here. he's got a brand new 2003? gti vr6. he went to the h2o show down in maryland and awetuning put in a chip but it didnt work, screwed something up. so the apr guys got it back to stock and working. he explained the jumper board is already there. awetuning sent him a replacement garrett chip. he just didnt know the procedure to follow.
