I was searching old posts for the sunroof gear and saw the name chris hightower. On a couple of the posts they said he may have a metal gear to replace the plastic one and that he may have a fix to save alot. Is this true if so does anybody no how to get in contact with him. If not does anybody have another fix for this constant problem. I no about the moving the motor but the problem is it is bad there to just looking for a permanent fix because this thing keeps going bad.

I don't think Chris followed thru with it because of costs. The machining of the gear was going to be expensive.

If anyone has replaced their motor, I'd like to get hold of one. I work for a machine shop, and we may be able to make up some replacement gears, pm me.

we definitely need someone to do this!! i can send you my gear, although it's stripped in one spot. can you just mold half of it twice or something? this would be really great, just let me know what i can do to help.

Try this, go to one of those electronics hobby geek stores and look to see if some kind of machine has parts that will work. I've picked up some good repair parts at these stores. You never know from week to week what some of these stores have. They buy stuff from close outs. One time I saw a stack of old HP plotters for a few bucks each. All sorts of gears in some of them. Another thought, some wiper motor assemblies have simular gears. Most of them are brass.
In Houston there is EPO for Electronic Parts Outlet on the SW side and ACE on the near NW.
