I have A 98 Contour SE and I put 17's on it. I want to drop the car with the Eighbach lowering spring set. I was wondering if I need to put new struts on the car, i called the place where i would get them from and they say its only recommended but i dont have to. I already replaced on strut on my car but now its seems to run fine. Im not lowering it that much do I need new struts? I have 75,000 miles on the car. If anyone can give me some info that would be great.

Eibach "recommends" upmarket struts, but also say that their struts are designed to "work" with OEM struts.

However, IMHO, with 75,000 miles on your stock struts, and with the larger wheels, I think you'd be happier with some better struts. At the very least, I would upgrade to fresh SVT struts, available from Bill Jenkins for around $240 for the set. Spax, BAT, Bilstein, or Koni would be better, but of course, more money.

HTH.

Pay now or pay more later. Get BAT euro struts or Koni's. With 75k the things are getting old.
