My dad's car just started this problem a month ago. The noise just got really bad the past two days. we brought it into the shop, and the dealership is not SVT certified, although the mechanic says he is. he thinks it sounds like a broken cam, or something around the cam shaft (not clear)

my dad is jumping to conclusions, and worrying about getting an engine swap... any advice from your experience?

id tell your dad to hold tight until you hear back from dion. if its the same thing you could save a lot of money. dion sounds like he's on it so im sure we'll get an update once he's done. my thing is if a "mechanic" is saying that the cam is broken, then how is the car still running as good as it is? they dont know. just another way to rip off a consumer who may not know better.

Okay, here's the update.

It was the passenger mount. I ordered a new mount from Bill Jenkins at Signature L/M, installed it, and now I have no more engine rattle! Of course, all the other squeeks and rattles are still there, but those are the ones I'm used to.

j4g, your father's problem can be something more simple, like an idler pulley or tensioner pulley. Is his car losing power?
