I had transmission problems in the past, and I guess I still sorta do. A while back I overheated my atx transmission (steve and hector's fault ) and I had problems with my transmission. Basically if I floor it, it has a major slip between first and second gears. If I dont floor it, it shifts a little notchy but ive gotten used to it by now. Once in a while I feel the car shudder, and my o/d light blinks. Nothing else happens, just a quick shudder and the light. Then the light goes away after a given amount of time. It usually happens if I drive at high rpms for a descent amount. I know I need a new or rebuilt tranny, but set that aside for now.

My real question is that right now I have a slight problem that is getting worse and worse. At first about 2 months ago I noticed that if I pop the car in reverse and back up, I hear a popping noise. That eventually became more and more frequent. But now, I get it when I drive forward. Sometimes I hear it and sometimes I dont. Its like a clicking noise (i feel it on the pedal) and is most frequent when im idling between 5-25mph. When I step on the gas it goes away, but as I idle its like a clicking. Some people tell me that its my transmission, but I am trying to convince myself that it isnt. Being a high school student who just spent money on an amp and some subs... I really dont have money for a transmission. Please tell me some good news.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I forgot to tell you about the slight mis-hap I had a couple months ago. On a rainy day I took a turn too fast and I hit a high curb with my wheel turned. The right wheel was bent completely and was just barely driveable home. The mechanic checked it out and replaced my lower control arm and rim. You think this caused more damage (resulting in this noise) than the mechanic noticed?

Clicking noise usually associated with faulty CV joint.

With a good amp and subs you should not be able to hear this noise, so you actually have 2 problems; 3 if you count no money.

The problem is the Front and Rear Transmission Roll Restrictors.
I just had mine replaced for the same reason.

For 88 and newer, they are about $45 and $42 each.
For some reason on the 95 - 97 they are a lot more.
Check with FordPartsOnline and search for 'MOUNT'.
They will come up as the Left Front and Left Rear mounts,
or just call Bill Jenkins.

It shouldn't take more than an hour to install each one.
