At the risk of offending the environmental folk, and in my now somewhat limited budget quest for more hp, has anyone removed the cats from their car? Speaking hypothetically of course

I have a high flow cat, and I also have some o2 enhancers that are not being used, Im thinking of just sticking in straight pipe and letting the o2 enhancers cover the electircal signal. Anyone have any experience on these cars doing this and what type of gains can be had?

I can't do that I have to have my car tested every other year for emissions.

If you already have a high flow I doubt it would be worth the effort.

By O2 enhancers I think your talking about mil eliminators for the downstream sensors so you can streamline the exhaust flow though he the pre-cats. (On the exhaust manifolds.) This is a great mod imo, and if your running a high flow cat you should have no problem passing a sniffer type emissions test. The manifolds are a pita to remove for cleaning, but the gains are well worth it. You may find some 'already been cleaned' manifolds in the classified section.

Well, actually the car has long tube headers (so no manifolds or precats) that go into a y-pipe that then hits a single high flow cat. The downstream sensors are right behind this cat. I would put the o2 enhancers onto these sensors to make the car think the signal is ok. There is no emissions testing here.

Anyhow, I think ive decided not to do it. Once I take it off, I think it would be a major pain to get back on, since Id have to cut the pipes to keep the o2 bungs in place. Plus next year they are looking to have more stringent emissions around here, so I might as well just keep it on.
