So last night I put new front rotors on my car, and tonight on the way home I started having issues shifting. I'm assuming this is related.
The details are:
1) It only does this when the car is on. When off, it shifts normally. (clutch a tad engaged?)
2) If I'm stopped in neutral, it's a pain in the ass to get into any gear. The only way I've been able to is either:
a: Blip the throttle (sometimes approaching 3500rpm) while pulling somewhat firmly into 2nd. Then starting off a tad before shifting into first.
b: Shut the car off, and shift into first.
c: If on an any kind of hill, let the car roll until it reaches about 1 foot/sec and slide into either 1st or reverse (depending on which way I'd like to go)
3) I don't have the reserved assist in the brakes after I shut the car off. About 1/2 a depression before it's all leg. However, once fired up, it's back to normal.
4) I *did* take the cap off the fluid resevoir while putting the new rotors on since I had to move the pads out a touch.
5) Yes, I put it back on. (see above)
6) No leaks, and the fluid level hasn't changed.
7) It's really freaking annoying.
8) Only started this on my last drive in from town (approx 10 miles). I've put about 100 on it since I changed the rotors last night before this started happening.
9) I did *not* let the calipers dangle by the lines while changing the rotors. (see #6)
So if anybody can give me the slightest suggestion or details of how you may have solved the same problem in the past, I'd be very greatful.
