i don't know much about transmissions, but i think there's a problem with the synchros. i'm low on cash and need a cheap fix. what would it cost to fix it, or how hard would it be to do myself? if i wanted to do it myself, where could i get information like tolerances and such. any help would be appreciated.

the transmission problem is odd.
it shifts normally while stopped, or driving slowly, but the faster i go the less it wants to go into gear.
i can get it to go into gear by matching the RPM's(like shifting without the clutch).

Sounds like a synchro problem to me as well. What I would suggest doing, if you plan on doing this repair yourself or even if you are looking into it, is going online and buying a Transmission Repair Manual. It will give you all the information that you need and only cost about $20, at the most. Great investment to make!
