it comes on for a while and the idle is ruff more than usual. should i take it in ? hope its not anything to do with the water pump...

coolant sensor....is it on the left side of the steering column and orange (you say: why yes? how the hell did you know?) well, partly becuase i am a genious phsycic, and partly becuase this question gets asked about twice a week... jsut fill up your coolant resevoir to about a half inch above "MAX FILL" line immediately! keep a very close eye on your temps too, i would replace your waterpump if you've logged over 50,000 miles on the car as well

Funny, my wife called it a trashcan with a fan when she was calling me frantically the other day.

Same thing, coolant gets to the max line, and the light stays on for a minute after starting. Add about a cup or two, everything's fine.

NOTE TO SELF: Stop letting the wife drive my car. wink

I have heard that the dexcool stuff can screw up the sensor, my brother haas an Camaro ss and has had to have his replaced 5 times now. Coolant levels were just fine. Covered underwaranty all times but could this be happening?

This was a very common problem with many Contiques. The coolant sensor is touchy and just needs to be filled a tad above the line. The light should stay off forever.
