Ok so I just finished replacing my radiator, its worked good for two weeks. Than Im driving to go camping and on the way up a check engine light comes on (no problems yet), than the oil light flashes a few times. I already had a exhaust leak. So I pull over check my oil and the dipstick show on one side full but when you turn it on the other side it was low. So I added a quart of oil. I start to drive again, and than that supposed exhaust leak get louder and a grinding noise starts up. So I immediately turn the car off again. Had it towed to Ford.
I got a call that the engine might need to be replaced, but waiting for more details. (64,000 miles)

You were right Terry...
So far Ford has said it's a Lower End Knock.

Can someone explain
Short Block vs. Long Block?

And how does this compare to Terry's Tear-down and rebuild?
Terry was very helpful, I just want to make sure I understand completely what Im getting into.
He told me it was either a Spun Bearing and/or Crank shaft is gone.

Sorry about your loss... As a fellow member of the oh I crapped my pants cause my SVT ate its engine I hope all works out for you!

I was luck enough for Ford to foot the bill... Wish Terry H. was an option at the Ford Dealer where I live. wink

I was told tonight that my car will be ready next Monday.... We will see.... :rolleyes:

Yup, Blown Engine. Ford is asking 6,171 for a Rebuilt New Engine + Labor. (Whatever that means)

Is that figure correct 6,171 as in six thousand dollars.That is an out ragueous price for a rebuilt motor and labor.labor should only run about 1000 or 1500.My dad works as a shop foreman for a GMC dealership and he is always putting rebuilt engines in all kinds or chevys or GMC and most engines only run about 2000 and labor is about 1000 for pretty much anything that is Gasoline.Mabe you should look around somewhere else.
