Have the battery checked first. Both times when my battery was about shot, the wipers would come on by themselves, the air bag light came on and the whole car acted generaly screwy! Tours can literaly cook batteries due to high underhood heat. Thats why the factory put the bubble wrap stuff around the battery to act as a heat insulator. (At least on my car they did, I don't know if they still do.) Be very careful with the replacement you get as far as physical size, especially height. First time I put a generic parts store replacement in, I put a nice bump in the hood because it was just a bit to tall and the battery post whacked the hood! I believe the Ford batteries are being made by Exide these days and they ain't the greatest IMHO. Exide also makes for Sears, Pep Boys and a number of others, so buyer beware! IMHO, Interstate makes about the best regular (wet) type battery these days. If they do not have an exact replacement, match your CCA (cold cranking amps, terminal posts and be REAL careful about the battery height, especially those posts!! Also consider removing the hood blanket. Helps shed some heat. Good luck!

Former, now returned CEG'er! 95SE MTX, (AKA "The Road Rat"). Stock except for:TH fix, B.A.T. big brake kit, tranny cocktail and lots of re-insulated wiring! May yet be a 3.0! "Speed doesn't kill, stupidity does!"
