Today, I looked at a 98 Silver Frost/midnight blue CSVT with 122k and e1 SVT rims in fairly decent shape. The dealer wanted $4995 for it. Is this a fair price. I love my 99 T-Red/Greystone MTX SE Sport , which is almost up to 54k, but have CSVT envy. Is this worthwhile, or should I hold off until that Tropic Green/Prairie Tan 2000 CSVT with 22k miles shows up at my door with the owner telling me that he feels that I deserve the car more than he does? :-) Or should I just hold off until a later production CSVT with low miles comes along at the right price. I saw the car at the same dealer I bought my Contour at while I was doing some computer work for them. The joys of being in Tampa, Fl, where these cars seem to have the highest smile to purchase price ratio. Does anybody know why they seem to be going so cheaply? I paid $5000 for mine with 46k back in July.

1. It's a FORD ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) 2. It's a 98 (AND its a FORD!) 3. There is kah-rayzeh mileage on the car... which equals... DEPRECIATION. If it was a 98 Honda Prelude or an Acura Integra... it'd be different, but our little FORDYs don't get the same Appreciation... its all good i love my Silver E0.

I would wait for a lower mileage CSVT to roll your way. Be patient, you will find the right one. I had to fly from ocala to dallas to get mine, but it was well worth the trip. Mines a 1998.5 with 42,000 when I bought it, in excellent shape. Like I said, just wait, you will find a CSVT that fits your bill a little better. You have a car with 50,000 miles now, why go to one with 122,000?? I say wait, you'll find something better.

Definitely wait on a lower mileage one to come your way. I went from a 99 SE Sport to a CSVT also. It was a big improvement. When I got my CSVT 2 years ago it had less than 12k on it and its a 98.5!! Just keep looking and you'll find a better deal.

I'd wait, $4,995 is too much for a car with that many miles. It might need a clutch, or worse ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif) Hold off until a lower mileage unit comes along, you'll thank yourself

I agree with everyone else. Trading yours in on a car with that much milage isn't a smart move. Check autotrader.com. You should be able to find something close to you.

I appreciate everyone's advice, I'm going to hold off a little bit for a lower mileage SVT. I also called my insurance agent, and they said my rates would go up a bit. I'm going to stick it out with the SE Sport a little longer. I've had it since July, and I'm thinking that it's probably not a good idea to jump into another car. I want to thank everyone for their advice, and when I am ready to make the jump, I will definately get in touch with everyone.

I think if you atleast have a regular duratec you don't need an SVT...throw the body kit on there and the sh!t looks the same anyway
save your money for a 3L swap and you'll be pushing more HP than SVTs

Actually you'd be pushing about the same. To really push more you need all the SVT parts, and you might as well start with a svt to do that with.
98.5 SVT
91 Escort GT (almost sold)
96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater
