My friend and i finally got race he was talking a lot about his stock 01 celcia gt 5spd and i was pretty confident about my 98 sytque v6 atx with: superchip, accel 8.8 wires, dub plat plugs, k$n filter with intake pipe, my exhaust is removed after cat convertor and then has flowmaster 40series muffler with a pipe going out the side....he beat me by half a car length and i had a good power break start.We raced to about 75.....we were on a back road...he lives on a farm.

make shure your tires are inflated properly
dont run with more then a 1/4 tank of gas
do a tune up especialy your fuel filter
make shure your k/n is not over oiled they come from the factory over oiled and can act as a small restriction
you could remove your spare tire,though i would not do this every time you run but i would just to beat this guy.

ive done all that cept in place of my spare is a big honking sub box...so that doesnt help and filters are all good.
