Ditto!
I want to hit and KEEP hitting what I aim at with as little delay as possible.
I'm fairly repeatable with this on the Sig p232 and the p228 (9mm) I have, but small-frame, large-caliber guns have been my bane, revolver or auto. Mid- to large-frame .40s and .45s have been pretty easy to keep on-target as well (Wilson Combat and Sig still come to mind here).
The only thing I've ever shot in .22 Mag has been rifles. That would be an interesting pistol to play with in that caliber...
EDIT: I'm waitig for DD to chime in here. I bet he's got more than just a few good opinions.

I have a P239 9mm. I like it - it is very accurate, very little recoil. Downsides: Not lefty friendly, grip could be better. It is not the smallest compact. Of course, it's aheck of a lot smaller than my Beretta 92FS.

It was. Heckuva muzzle flash (I think it was a 6" barrel), this pink-orange ball that just blinked each time you pulled the trigger. And the gripframe on the gun was supercomfortable for me. Single-stack, so not wide at all, but front-to-back was as long as anything I've held. I've got big hands and it felt custom-made.

You should look hard at the HK USP Compact line, and see if you can try out that gun in different calibers. They're available in 9mm, .40, .357Sig, and .45, so one should fit your needs.
Ill second the bid for HK's, nice hardware. The USP's can be a bit bulky though, even for the compacts. Reliablility is 2nd to none though. The P7 series is pretty hot as well, although those are a bit more expensive.
Found this looking for a new gun

Good info on there, scroll down just a bit to get to the pistols.

I have been impressed with the Sigs I have shot as well. So many choices...
Now for the Hijack, anyone own a HK USP Tactical?

Today I pawed an HK P2000. No demo available yet, but I can't wait to try it out. I never realized that my thumb dexterity/length was challenged until I picked this up! As a Beretta 92FS owner(go figure?) I was surprised at how comfortable the P2000 felt. Going back the original post; although it's borderline for concealability, ie, OK in Michigan, a challenge in Miami. I would add this to the short list. Mark
