Anybody been dropped from their insurance company due to lack of payment? I was just recently laid off from work and my insurance co. has now dropped me...I was wondering how difficult it's going to be now to get new insurance and also will my premium go up because of this?

Well what did you expect? Didn't they send you a notice on for past due payment? No payment isn't going to show up on anything when searching companies.

I'd think it depends on the vendor. In mother of all payment screw-ups Progressive cancelled me for non-payment then sent me a refund for time remaining on the policy. How you could owe someone money yet still be due a refund completely escapes me. (Does Progressive contract with Arthur Andersen?) Anyway, I had no trouble getting another policy. Just document your reasons for non-payment and explain them to the new company; a previous history of on-time payments does more than anything though.

That's funny [censored], I had the same thing happen to me. Because of how much I paid upfront, when I didn't make my monthly payment ontime they cancelled me and then I got a small amount of money back. Makes no sense to me!

i think progressive is just crazy, i got cancelled and i got a check back for $350 then a week later i used that money to get the same policy from progressive, they really dont care. they didnt even say anything to me about getting cancelled.
