It cost me $491 for my quaife and $375 for the install from Terry Haines. Terry will sell you the Quaife at wholesale IF he installs it for you.

However it's the labor that will kill you. ($1000+)
Book time is like 16hrs IIRC. So 16 x even a cheap $50 shop rate (then you worry about the quality of the work!) is $800 for labor alone. Using a "dealer" shop rate of 80-100 per hour makes it downright sickening.
I'm glad I can turn all my own wrenches...
I'm glad my uncle dosn't charge me for labor

Considering that I'm already a previous vicitm to a broken Stock Diff, it takes alot to break the piece, Trust Me!! IMO the Open Diff provide better launching than the Quaife with street radials, at least from my experience, strange but true. Though the Quaife makes a world of difference on a road course and Solo2 from my extensive experience, if you don't plan to do such events much, than just don't be to harsh on the stock diff like I was because it's not cheap as D=man has said to purchase/install. Have you ever seen a Tour go Toe to Toe w/a 300Z TT through the first 60ft.???

16 hours seems like a lot. I don't know if Duratec Contours are a lot different than Zetec Contours in tranny removal and installation, but I've removed the tranny from a Zetec contour, took it apaprt, replaced the differential, put it back together, and put it back in the car in about 8 hours. I don't see it taking an additional 8 hours to install the quaife.

We should also mention the basics here - full synthetic oil, regularly serviced (5000mi doing drags regularly is a lot harder than 5000mi street driven exclusively), etc etc etc So keywords: regular maintenence

i don't know if this post goes here but i'm going to post it anyways. i just read that with the stock diff' that only one tire spins. i have a '99 csvt,(only mods are intake/mufflers) and have never had any tranny work done, but when i was at the local empty parking lot i laid 20+' of rubber from both tires. i've done this consistently on every burnout. both tires leave rubber. what the deal in this case? bought car from toyota dealer with 33,000 miles and car was in stock form.

thats because your wheels were straight, and they had equal traction.
mash the gas pedal in a tight turn and the inside one will spin like crazy and the outer one wont.
