texas legislature passed a law that makes license plate frames illegal. It became effective Sept. 1st. Its a $200 fine!!!

But what I have to ask is, since most car dealerships put these on all their cars, can you send them the bill if you get a ticket?

Ehh, to me it's about time. For one, I can't stand those things the dealers put on the vehicle, in fact, they are advertisements and if the dealer wants it on the vehicle, they PAY ME to carry it, otherwise, it's word of mouth for them.

And the message things around the license plates? I agree with the law. I don't know why I agree with the law, I just have never liked them and think trying to read those is a hazzard to our society.

dang crap texas always passing these stupid laws.

I've seen too many dealer's frames that block out the state. I always remove the dealers stickers and frames; I want a nice "clean" look on my cars.

i agree, dealer frames do look pretty tacky. The first thing that I took off of my car was the "Arrow Ford" sticker. But with this new law, like half of the cars in my apartment complex are breaking the law.

so would those license plate covers in the GB section be illegal now?? If so, I need to sell mine because I am not going to pay $40 to not use a sweet CEG license plate cover. . .

I looked into it a little more and I think that if the word TEXAS or any of the numbers are covered, then its illegal

This probably only really affects those license plate covers that change the color of the plate or those that make it to where you cant read the plate from an angle (too many people running toll booths)

ye, i took mine off, not only cuz oof that, but also cuz i dont like to have mack haik advertising on me. Suneil i dont think you have to worry about it cuz basically the cop wont stop you just because of that. If they stop you because the suspect something or you gave them a reason then they would problably try to get you for that. You know how cops are.

hmmmm i hate texas, exept for the fact that you dont have to have bumpers on your cars/trucks
