just came back from the dealership. they put the 'stique on the diag and found that i need a bank #1 & #2 sensor replaced at $136/each, 1.5 hr labour for bank #1, and 1 hr for bank #2. they also said that the IMRC was stuck closed and will eventually need to be replaced, at a cost of $450/500.
do these sound like reasonable prices, or am i getting fleeced? does anyone have any alternatives that i can look at?

Assuming that you are referring to the 02 sensors, that is about what they cost, each, but I have seen them for under $120.00 each. The IMRC, hmmm, last time I checked, it was somewhere in the $300 range for the part, and should only take 45 minutes to change out. $500.00 seems pretty steep.

I would verify the functionality of the IMRC. If it is stuck closed you would have no power above 3000 RPM. If it is not working check the cable to make sure it is still attached to the LIM.

When My IMRC went out on me, The Cable was frayed at the end where it went into the IMRC box. I didn't feel like getting a new one so I removed the butterfly valve off the LIM. In other words no secondary's (sp?). I've seen dyno plots proving you get a 1 or two HP on top end. Also you can do the work yourself. It's not hard to do. You could also get the IMRC somewhere other then the dealership and put it on your self.

IMRC
Meadowvale Ford (Mississauga): $249.84
Discovery Ford (Burlington): $237.94

I called both places last week as my IMRC cable is FUBAR. Go figure. (It's not difficult to replace if you have some dexterity.)
