i haven't said much lately but i've been having real troubles with my tour for 3 months now and its been reduced to being parked on the street...
i was having trouble with tensioner pulley for serp belt...replaced it along with belt and for added security had installed a dmd
pick the car up and the shop owner where i had the work done is telling me its running 'like [censored]'...he figured it sounded like a miss or something...i replaced plugs and wires but no improvement...took the car back and supposedly they checked my cat. and installed a new tps i bought....no change...
fast forward to today..yesterday i bit the bullet and towed the car to the dealer...they just called and said it looks like the cam timing is way off and its gonna be $400 just to remove the cover and check...whatever they find is more or less just gonna add to that
im here to find out what u guys have to say...also, is it possible that the repair shop i used could have intentionally screwed up my engine to try to get the opportunity to jack me for a new motor....i had problems with them and decided that i would not be taking my car back to them
i also realized that my car was not running badly except for the tensioner pulley going bad...after they worked on it my car was undriveable, so i know they did something....
i want your opinions and what i plan to do is use fords bill and diagnosis to file a complaint with bbb about this shop i used
thanks for any help u can give me

$400 just to look?? Only takes a few minutes to pull the cover.I had the timing belt and tensioner replaced for only $350 on my 95 Contour.

let me try this again...
anyone have thoughts on the cam timing being 'way' off as the service dude told me?
mainly, what is involved in checking the cam timing?
also, how difficult is it to adjust? the service was saying that the tech would have to go in and see before they can tell me anything else
im trying to understand why this is going to cost me so much (other than the fact that its ford)
