Hi all,

When I bought my car (in '95) one of the "plus's" on the ledger was that (suppossedly) it was OBDII compliant. Is this true? I want in on the OBDII reader group buy, but thought I'd be wise to check that my 'tour is REALLY OBDII.

Have any of you used Alex Peper's OBDII tool on a '95 V6? Works??

thanks,

Brent

yikes, from the archives I've seen replies that '95's are OBDI! I'm picking the car up from the shop this pm (autobody work), so I'll be able to check for sure. (could be any different for cars destined for Canada??)

I'm 100% sure that it was being toted as OBDII compliant back in 95. Of course maybe that was some pre-production hype that got left behind to actually get the cars rolling off the line. We'll see.

The '95 is OBDI.... you can pick up a cheap scanner for like $40 CAD @ a Canadian Tire..... I have one...

You can also use a simple volt meter to pull codes.

There is a "HOW TO" for the OBDI somewhere here on this site.

not sure but if it is obdii then there will be a port under the driver side dash that is black and looks kinda like a old computer connectoin if it is odbi i believe that the port is by the powersteering resovoir and looks different could be wrong about the location of the obdi since i own an obdii

Does anyone have or know of OBDI laptop software?

Yes, your 95 is ODB1 not OBD2. That's both a blessing and a curse. It's more difficult to troubleshoot, but much less likely to trigger the dreaded CEL/MIL when "playing" with mods. Some Ford products, but not the 'Tours, were OBD2 in 95.

Yes it is (like most of you knew), OBDI. Every time I say that I want to say "OBDI Kanobee" a.k.a. "Jedi Master" (nyuk nyuk) Thanks for the links, I've already managed to read the codes using my handy dandy circuit tester (light) and aligator clip. Gotta love free code reading.

I'll do a search on the code and see what I can dig up... I'll probably end up posting again 'bout Oxygen sensors...

Thanks,

Brent
