I was looking at the forum and saw many people building their cars with both the 3.0L and 2.5L heads but if they used the 3.0L head they seem to use the 3.0L intake. Is this because the 2.5L intake wont fit on the 3.0L heads. I know the 2.5 liter has a split port and the 3.0 does not but can it be made to fit. Also if newer versions of the 2.5 head which do have the split port were used would it work. I was just trying to find a way to do the swap with out plugging the oil holes. I have a 2000 SVT and I was thinking about doing the 3.0L swap but wasn't sure if I wanted to do a whole swap or mix and match parts. Also will the blocks out of lincoln ls and jaguar s and x types work for the swap. If so is either of these a better swap canidate due to piston strength and why. Did they used forged pistons in either of these higher end cars. I want to do it right if I do it so I was just woundering. If the lincoln or jaguar 3.0L will work and if I were to get one for the 5 speed cars would that have the right size crank for the MTX pilot bushing. Thanks for the help.

The mounting pattern for either the 3L of 2.5L head to LIM is the same.

However it's not as easily as just swapping the manifolds. Many other fabrications must happen to fit all the components mounted to and near the manifolds.

IAC, TB, TPS, EGR, EGR tube, cables, harnesses, fuel rail, etc, etc

Unless you go with an oval port set of heads from a 2000+ 3L that is...

if u want a 3L with 3L heads get a 99 block but if you dont want the miles get a 2001 block and mate 99 heads to the block.. you will have to fill one oil passage and grind off 2 nubs that stick out of the block to get teh alternator plate to fit... other than that your set.

Well if anyone wants to go this route, I have a set of 2000 3L Heads and the UIM/LIM to go with it. 11k miles and will let it go for cheap. Someone PLEEEEASE buy this stuff from me, I don't want to throw it out and it's taking up space!

IIRC, the head port flange shape stayed the same, but some of the holes are in different locations. It is a do-able modification if you drill and tap.

That sounds easy enough for me.
