have a 98 SE, v6 auto. the rear is a drum.
im on a budget, anyone know if i just need to replace the shoes. or are there other parts (springs n [censored]) that need replacing usually.
also, how do i measure it, 8 or 9" drum?

please help

It's pretty easy to do it yourself. I have a '98 aswell and mine are 9". I forgot how I figured they were 9" but I'd start by actually measuring the diameter of the drum. I consider replacing the "guts" as an option but it is recommended to replace them anytime you have a break job. Have the drums turned @ and autoparts store (autozone, etc.) and get a manual. You'll need to bleed the brakes so it might be handy to have a friend around.
