I am currently running a Rockford Fosgate rfx9400 cd/head unit. For a while now I have felt that its the cause of a tremendous amount of feedback in my system since I have routed power/signal wires seperately, installed a noise filter, and have the cleanest grounds you can imagine. Everything has been installed perfect. NOW my new problem is A STATIC NOISE, occasionally when I turn the deck on. It's not every time, but it's becoming more frequent, and its at any volume both with radio and CD. Is this a sign that the deck is on it's way out? I have had a total of 11n Fosgate head units and never had any problems until this one.
I appreciate your input.

My guess is that you are running RCA's thru your system...Usually a good idea is to chase the rabbit down, if you catch my drift. If you are running to amps, begin by removing your signal RCA's to your crossovers/amps and see if the noise leaves. If yes, then you have a bad deck. If no, then you go to the next component in your chain.

Check also to see if the noise filter is in good shape under the hood and see if it is clamped correctly. Also check your grounds all of them. Make sure that they are connectected to a substantial piece of metal and that the screws have not worked loose. Look for frays on your wires where they meet power and ground both on your deck and on your amps. Also, check your noise filters that you have installed. Some have a habit of making installers go nutz cause they go bad quickly or wear out. The biggest thing to do is chase your wires down and make sure that they are still in good working order.

Peace out
Rich

Rich, thanx for the input. all my wiring is verrrrrrry cleanly cut, solidly grounded to clean bare metal via platinum set screw o-terminals. and everything is routed perfectly, signal wires far from power wires. i think im gonna swap a deck out and try that now.

I would definitely try switching out the head unit. BTW, how old is your head unit? Let us know how it goes!

head unit is about 10 months old, but ive only put like 4,000 miles on my car since then and listen to the stereo half the time I drive, so it hasn't been used a lot... maybe just a defective deck. we'll see.
