I am about to take my SVT to the dealer for the first time since I've had it and wondered if anyone has had a problem with having a K&N? I have an idle issue and a low RPM studder and can see them blaming the oil from the K&N as the culprit.

Do they sell these filters at the parts counter? Just wanted to know what to anticipate. I might just pull it out and throw a fram air filter in for now to avoid any potential hassle.

BTW, its only going to the dealer b/c I have an extended warranty. Otherwise I'd fix it myself.

K&N filters (if OE replacement) will not cause the warrenty to void! It states that in there Catalogs and web site.

IIRC, there is also a federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) that states for filters, that if the dealer or MFG will not supply you with filters free of charge, they cannot void your warranty.

So if you have and OE replacement filter, then you should be ok.

But if you ahve a MAF adapter that is not Carb legal (k&N, Injen and I believe weapon R are carb legal for example) then your SOL on the warranty.

If it is your MAF, you might be better off buying an Aftermarket one, especailly if your going to mod the car more in the future. But i ahve heard that some MAF's mave problems with our cars.

Yeah the Pro-M 75MM maf's are basically a hit or miss deal. I know some people who have had no problems with them but just as many like me who couldn't get their car running right with it on.
