The 3.0L bore diameter is larger than the 2.5L (82.4mm), that is how the 3.0L gets its larger displacement. Also these pistons are for 1.0mm overbored cylinders. Better off to start with a 3.0L block if you want to use these pistons.

Yeah, I was just posting for guys planning a 3.0L Conversion! This looks like it would be a great savings @ $700 shipped. I'm sticking with my SVT 2.5L for now with just some minor mods and N2O.

Maybe you could post a note in the 3.0L forum in case someone is building up their engine now and is interested in these pistons. Save them a few bucks.

Ahh , didn't know I needed to search to post "1" set left informative info to save some $. Although it would fit better in the 3L forum but I'm not into the 3L build up just yet and don't plan to go 3L at all just wanting to make the 2.5 stronger! $2200 for a block isn't in the budget just yet.

Where did that number come from? A 3L complete long block is on average about $800 for a used engine with 10k on the clock.

.0L Duratec upgrade
Availability: All V6 vehicles
Approx Cost: Cost of 3L block + labor
Description: The 3.0L Duratec shortblock from a 1999+ Taurus can be used with the rest of the 2.5L engine parts. Obviously, modifications to the intake and exhaust will help greatly here with the increased displacement.
Some modifications to the 3L block are required, or you can purchase an already modified block from the SHO-Shop for $2200.

See David Z's 3L FAQ
or Warmonger's 3L conversion page
or AirKnight's 95 3L FAQ (First 1995 3L Swap).

Feedback: You MUST get a 1999 or greater 3L shortblock. The bell housing on the pre-1999 blocks is different and will not work with the MTX-75 5-speed transmission.

I guess if you want to get hosed going the SLO Shop route. The mods to the block for the hybrid are nothing difficult enough to warrant having them do it and the huge price hike. Pppl have been less than happy with this as well. A few have been happy yes. It's hit and miss but $2200 is way too much $.

Name the few that have been happy.

IIRC wasn't there a post about someone spending like 5-6k (labor & parts) at SLOShop for a 3L and then the power output was just horrid.

Let's think about this...
$2200 for a shortblock for SLOShop or $1250 for a new long block (the entire engine!) from Ford or $600-800 for a low mileage 99-01 3L.

Does that give you any slight inkling of how much they are ripping their stupid customers off???

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
