I have spent all night reading past posts about bucking in our cars. Mine has been getting worse. I replaced the +4's 3 months ago with Autolite Single Platinums that NAPA told me was a direct OEM replacement. Are these bad plugs to use? This bucking is getting worse. I have FMS wires that I have had for about 50k. I am getting ready for a 1300 mile trip in 2 days. Should I juts go buy Bosch Wires to have something new in there?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

I'd suspect the wires.

autolite double plats r the correct plug for the car, not single plats.

I doubt that the plugs are causing you any problems yet, but they will not last as long as double plats.

I too would suspect your wires. There have been several posts about problems with the FMS wires. I have a set and they are working fine for me.

Before trying another set of wires, try cleaning the injectors and also if you can find a know good coil pack try swaping it. These are probably more likely to be a problem than your wires.

While you're in there, go ahead and replace the plugs with the proper plugs, the dual platinum Autolite . I'd also stick in a set of ford racing plug wires..

I would bet it's not the plugs....try the fuel filter.
Just a suggestion, its cheap, should be done anyway, and is one prime causes of "bucking".
Worth a try anyway.

I'm having the same bucking problem with my 2000SVT. I just replaced the plugs with the MOTORCRAFT AGSF32FM.

A Ford dealer said these are the newest plugs for our contours and replace the double platinum ones.(4W2) Because the plugs have the suffix of FM I am assuming they are (finewire) yet no body can confirm this.

***If someone could verify this -I would be obliged***

I searched for this on the Motorcraft site and these plugs aren't shown specifically for our cars. After calling several dealers and Motorcraft, I found out that they all say the AGSF32FM plugs are correct.

Anyways, after replacing I did notice some hesitation going away. This could have been a seperate problem for me because the gaps were way off. Looks like the previous owner just threw the plugs in without checking. The bucking is still there!! My next step is replacing the plug wires.

In all likely hood you should try replacing the fuel filter.

We went though this issue a year or so ago. Ceg'ers have found the Motorcraft AGSF 32PPM. Double plats. My dealer parts man told me (had to get my maintenace log out) Ford was cutting back on the amount of different plugs. ( May / 2002) If you go to any parts store ei Autozone they still show the "fine wire"?
My car had no noticeable driving problems, however the scan tool was showing misfires, not bad enough to light the CEL. I tried Bosch single plats, good for a few thousnand miles. Misfires came back, so I went with AGSF 32 PPM's my trip mileage went up 2-3 mpg and the scan tool has yet to record a misfire since.

While you're changing the plug wires, I strongly recommend that you:
swap out the plugs for a set of double plats at the SAME TIME.

Several of us have had some serious misfire issues & this seems to work pretty consistantly.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
