Ok.... So I've got a Pursuit (by Audiovox) car alarm installed... well, actually, the dealer installed it because he forgot to order me the remote keyless entry. Anyway, a week ago, after I had armed the alarm from the remote, the alarm started going off by itself. The doors were closed, etc etc etc. I disarmed it with the remote, and then armed it again. The second I armed it again, it went off again. I left the alarm off (via the valet switch) that night.
The next day, while I was at the autoparts store (with the alarm on and armed again), the alarm went off again. Anyone with any insight? I'm wondering if it could possibly be the connection between alarm and battery? I know that everytime I reconnect the battery (after working on the car - reset the computer, fuel filter, etc), the alarm goes off. The negative terminal of the battery isn't as "fat" as it used to be... as I've cleaned it several times with one of those wire brushes. However, I've never had a "loss" of power to the clocks, etc, so I don't know if a bad connection could be the cause. Any suggestions? By the way, I got a complaint from a neighbor a couple days ago. Apparently, I thought I had fixed the problem (I sat in the car for 1/2 an hour and the alarm didn't go off)... but apparently, some time after I left the car (in the parking structure)... it went off and was on all night.
