I'm 23, I have one speeding ticket (that they know about ) and I pay $228 a month. I got the "multi-car discount" now, it was like $240'ish without my Impala on there! Hmmmmmm.....maybe I should shop around for a better deal

hey i am in the military and you don't have to be an officer to get usaa. and by the way its not always the best to go with they wanted like 1,000 a month( if i remember correctly) i also had a bunch of tickets so that could be why. but now i pay $278 a month for full coverage. driving in las vegas is risky.

well, i'm 19, and i already lost my licence. state of iowa for my 17th bday suspended my licence for 3 tickets in a year. 3 months gone, lady on phone interview to keep it said she would have let me keep it, but since i was under 18, she wanted to "teach me a lesson". she did drop the civil penalty fee (like $250) and the SR-22.
but, i guess mine isn't that bad. some of these posts sound like the insurer is raping them.
also, about my tickets.... i was a dumb driver at one time. notice i haven't had a speeding ticket since 4/01. also, the y-restriction violation was when i was on my way home from work (i broke my exhaust off at the cat on my honda, the city cop where i work followed me into the town where i lived and had to get permission to pull me over. all he wanted to find out is why i was driving such a loud car. but the other cop tried telling my mom when she got there that i was trying to run from them [i drove half a block and turned cause i didn't want them to have to stand on a 4 lane, no parking busy road]). the 42 in a 25, i wasn't paying attention at all. the careless driving was obvously just stupid. the other speeding ticket was driving next to a van (i was in a 1984 monte carlo ss) doing the same speed, and a cop whipped a s*itty and pulled me over and tried giving me a ticket for no exhaust (had factory-equivalent exhaust on it). and the accident was i was looking off to the left at a freind's car that was at mcdonald's, and it just snowed earliar in the day and everyone in front of me decided to stop at a yellow light, so i hit the brakes, and try to avoid an s-10, but i didn't make it.
all in all, i'm not a bad driver, but i was, but i learned my lesson. i learned to drive with my head and use good judgement to know when i can and can't speed (like NEVER do more than 30 in residential, too many kids with parents that don't watch them)

Yeah, see, that's why I said to call & ask about the military thing. I wasn't totally sure about the officer thing. I know we got it because we have a retired full bird, a retired Major, & a retired Captain in our family. PLUS my mother-in-law used to work for USAA, and her ex is a lawyer for them as well.
Insayne, you might want to wait until after you do basic & tech school before asking them. They might get picky on you & say they won't insure you because you are not active duty yet.

I have a clean record and am 36. Last year I paid $1050 this year $2300. You do the math and tell me how that works!!!
oh yah my Insurance company tells me I'm lucky cause it didn't go up that much.......WTF?
Not over here in Saskabush...
Each individual car is given a $ amount to insure, based on power, options, age, and type. You can look up the figure in a book before purchase. Mom's 92 base model Taurus is actually only $150 cheaper to insure than my 02 loaded Focus.
$863/year full coverage, which includes a package policy. That policy includes all my stereo equipment (original value as per sales receipts) and any items I left in the car (CDs, porn, dead hookers in the trunk) Anybody can drive my car as long as they have a licence, and the car is still fully insured. So if my brother hops into the car and hits a parked car, his driver's license costs more, not my insurance I was in an accident deemed my fault just before I sold the Tour and now instead of getting a 7% discount on my license, I get a 2% discount In five years I will again have a 7% discount. I have no idea how SGI makes any money at all... but they make lots.
I paid $250/year for the same thing on the Jetta More recently that increased to $460 because they no longer give winter beaters a reprieve from insurance costs

I'm 20, I was paying $200/month for my Contour, and a 97 Ranger, I had full coverage on the Contour, and liability on the Ranger. I recently sold the Ranger, cancelled the insurance on it, and got my new premium notice in the mail. I was shocked to say the least, after losing multi car discount, I am still paying $200/month! Those effing bastages! My record is fairly clean with the exception of a 5 over speeding ticket a month ago. I guess I will continute to get reamed for the next 5 years!
