Hey guys, I need a helmet with atleast a Snell rating of SA95. But i can't afford a new one. And wher i am going they no longer rent out helmets.
I found a motorcycle helmet with a rating of M2000, but i don;t know if it will be good enough. Its for the Redline Track event at Willow Springs raceway in CA.
Does anyone know of a place online i can get a helmet for cheap??? I saw JCwhitney selling a M2000 rated helmet for 84 bucks...cheapest i found.

More then likely the M2000 will be good enough. You can call and ask. The major difference between M and SA is fire protection.

The helmet as he stated is for a track event (CAR RACING) not riding a motorcycle.

Depending on the event rules, the M may be just fine. M's are fine for autocross, and some "high-performance driving clinics" where you are on track by yourself.
I've found some really good deals on E-bay. Don't get the used stuff from the private parties, but there are plenty of retailers selling off last year's "style." Brand new helmets. I got an M95 AGV for $65.
Otherwise, G-Force is about the best, no-frills SA helmet value out there. Try solotime.com, racerpartswholesale.com or pegasus.com for starters.
Function before fashion.

The M in M2000 means the helmet is a motorcycle approved helmet, while SA is for automotive sports. The M rating requires multiple impacts and generally results in a heavier helmet with less venting. If an SA95 is required, an M2000 provides more protection and therefore should be acceptable.

I found a website for the SA ratings...It turnes out that the diffrence between the SA and the M is the better fire protection for the SA. Way better fire protection....i will check Ebay for some helmets...thanks guys.

I bought an SA2000 last year from Soloperformance.com for about $160, IIRC
EDIT, I no longer see it listed, it was a G-Force Racing Full Face SA2000...

Looks like I was off base a little on the differences between M and SA ratings - must be the result of too many wrecks wearing my DOT71! If you only need a SA95, there are a couple on ebay for cheap. SA95 Helmet (small) SA95 Helmet (bigger) -Luxury
