Aye... the 1.8T engine has more aftermarket support than any other Euro engine. An A4 ( with quattro ) with a few small bolt ons could easily take a CSVT in AutoX and probably .25mi. But, like with the WRX and such, there's not much top end.

As for the A4 2.8, it's probably a closer comparison to the CSVT ( stock vs stock ). But I'd give the edge to the A4 in an AutoX due to the superb suspension.

The S4 ( both now and then ) is no joke... Chip + exhaust can bump the otherwise stock ride over 300HP.

I'd drive an A4 1.8 Quattro with an 5 speed...
My uncle owned one of the first A4 2.8 Quattros with a manual, it was black with 17" 5 spoke wheels, I drooled.
Now he owns an A6 2.7T Quattro with a 6 speed. It's black with 19" BBS wheels, some bolt ons, and some freak brakes that I seriously think are larger than my wheels, I drooled again...

It's a very solid car. Not the fastest stock but it does everything else well. Of course, with the 1.8T motor, it can be taken beyond CSVT levels easily.

S4's are a step way above the A4, and I beleive all thats offered in the A4 is either a turbo 1.8 or a n/a 2.8. S4's are awesome.

i could have sworn they have a n/a 3.0 now...unless they badged my friends dad's a4 wrong...??

New A4's are available with a 1.8T or the 3.0 n/a V6.. The new S4 does have the 4.2 V8, and yes they are awesome (please refer to the J. Clarkson vid of the M3 and S4, sorry no link though)...

The previous body styles were available with the 1.8T (only made 150 not the 170 that they make now IIRC), and the 2.8 V6. The S4 used a 2.7 TT.

I think I am remembering all this correctly, but I make no guarantees.
That is all for now. Carry on.

Nah, just a common phrase used by my friends, also non-military.

I do support our troops though.
