Iwent out to my car this AM put the key in the trunk lock WOULD NOT OPEN tried glove box works fine feels like it just won't turn ANY THOUGHTS? 1996 CONTOUR GL ZETEC ATX

did you then turn the key over and try the other side.. sometimes it works.. or take some graphite power(they sell it in small plastic containers), you just spray it into the hole of the lock and then put the key in and out several times and see if that works.... if you dont want to buy the graphite take a pencil and over a sheet of paper cut the pencil down the middle(split it open to expose the lead)then scrape the lead onto the paper.. this powder is the grphite. put it on the key or into the hole and work the key around and that should work... unless someone put something into the key hole??????

common problem, just lube the lock mechansism and keep trying the key. it will start turning. just be patient and don't apply too much force. mine was the same way.

Mine's the same way. It was fine when I bought it but a couple months later (winter set in) it wouldn't work. I took the cylinder out and cleaned and lubed it well (it was soooo nasty and caked with dirt and debris) but one of the tumblers is still sticky and won't fall back into place after the largest bump on the key passes it. Oh, well, I got my keyless entry working and my cable release works so I don't worry about it too much.
