I am so pissed off!!!

I decided to put my shiny new Brullen 3'' stainless quasi-dual exhaust on my Contour. I pulled my old exhaust off this weekend. I had to drive over to my apartment (I was working on it at my parents). A state trooper pulled me over and gave me a warning for having no exhaust. No biggie, 10 days to get my new exhaust on. I bust my ass to get my new system. I finished it last night at about midnight.

I ditched work becuase my shoulders were killing me and it was beautiful outside . I decided to stop by the state police HQ to get this BS cleared up.

A burly female officer comes out to inspect my system. The first words out of her mouth are, "Oh...I saw you drive up with that modified exhaust." Keep in mind that she said SAW not HEARD!!! She looks at my system. She has me rev my little Zetec. We go back an forth. She looks under my car. I explain that they are full mufflers, not the cheap, loud ones like on the imports. We go back inside. She fumbles through some law book. She finds nothing. She then tells me that she CAN'T PASS MY SYSTEM!!! I ask why. She responds that its aftermarket and not stock. SO WHAT!!! I tell her that I have a sound level meter in my car and that I can show her that I'm well within limits. She looks confused. She tells me again that she can't pass the car and that I will have to talk to the trooper that issued the warning.

What is this crap!!! You have got to be Fu(king kidding me!! You can't tell me that Wisconsin only allows OEM exhausts!!! Bullsh!t!!!!

How do I prove them wrong?!? Where can I find out what exactly the laws are?

Please keep in mind that I was a perfect gentleman the whole time. I saved my rant/anger for the above post.

BTW, I have the Brullen QUIET system. You can't hear my exhaust unless I stomp on it. Even then you can only hear it until about 3000 rpm then the intake is louder that the exhaust.

Take it to court. I know in california you can't have like anything done to your car, but in georgia (well actually having no exhaust is fine by our cops) you can have aftermarket. Just prove it's within the sound levels and is qualified as a stock replacement (they can't outlaw all non-OEM parts or Ford,etc. would have monopolies on parts).

My SVt passed safety inspection with the resonator cut outta my car. It rasped like hella bad when it was cold. I just nevered revved it past 2K Anyways I call BS. Go to the original ticket giver and see what he says. The [censored] obviously had a dildo up her ass. I've gotten [censored] around by those ass clowns more then once, Aty my last inspection this trooper I had(she was big and burly also..hmmm i wonder ) was more worried about some sticker on the rear bumper cover then anything else... I dunno if anything talk to someone that inspects cars. I don't know the exact laws here but I do know I don't have to worry anymore. I live in Jefferson County now, no more emissions Best of luck to you.

Hi Tony! Congrats on the SVT!! I remember reading a post on you taking it in for tech inspection. I never got a chance to see if everything went OK. BTW, I'm still trying to get those brakes on! I keep getting delayed. Crap like this...

The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. I got a warning for NO exhaust, now I have one. Case closed. I am now waiting for a call back from the original officer. He has final say as to weather they can dismiss the warning.

I'm going to check the WI DOT site and see if I can dig anything up.

Yeah go there. I talked to a cool guy a bunch for salvage questions. He was very straight forward and truthful. Good luck, if your around I'll be home Saturday working on the SVT. I finally got a metal water pump. I also have to start working on the piaa 510's and my short throw shifter is ready for install. Peace out Tony

You got 510's too?!? Damn, I'm gonna have to check those out. I've been wanting to get a set for quite a while.

I just got my shiny new driver's side caliper from fordpartsonline today. I now have everything to do the rear disc conversion. Now I just have to decide wether I want to do my brakes this weekend or relocate my battery for my cold air intake. Hmmmm....

I doubt that my car will be mobile this weekend. I wanna see your SVT progress tho. ...crapola... We need to have a friggin meet!!!

Actually in WI it is illegal to put on ANY aftermarket exhaust that exceeds the stock decibel level. Most state troopers know that. I had a similar situation happen to me, but when I said something he pulled it up to show me. So, you can try to fight it, but you'll probably end up losing. Just put the stock back on and change it back after you have it passed.

Yeah i got the water pump in last night and this week I'm gonna modify the housings for the 510's. next weekend I'll be racing all weekend long. And then I have a wedding the next weekend. I dunno we need to have a sewi meet again before the snow flies for sure....

That really blows. I still need to talk to the guy that gave me the ticket. Hopefully he will let me pass. If not, I'm gald that I didn't sawzall my old exhaust!

I ended up working on my indiglows. I'm am so friggin poor right now. I knew that I would need to buy a bunch of parts in order to move my battery. That water pump must have been a b!tch. Good luck on the 510's.

We will just have to have a Haloween SEWI meet. Our goal: Scare the sh!t out of as many ricers as possible.
