anyone got any ideas on what to do,don't know if its the belt or sensor

Car info would help. Assuming its a '98 or later with Zetec engine, read this: P1381

P1381 is Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced (Bank 1).
Not real sure what to suggest on this one. Guess would be Crank Position Sensor (CPS) or Timing/Timing belt.

What year?
Sounds like a VCT problem. The VCT could be hanging up, or , if the timing belt has just been replaced they got it on wrong.

i had the same CEL code for my 98 zetec had it about a year. took it to firestone they said they couldnt find the problem. about two weeks later car died and this was the result of the P1381.
Fuel in my oil = oil change Fouled spark plugs = new spark plugs and the kicker i needed a new VCT solenoid final cost = 516.31 to repair.
